Indications
- evaluation of bacterial infection by group A Streptococcus*
* Centor scoring system used for determining whether laboratory testing needed prior to therapy
- patients who meet all 4 Centor criteria should be treated without laboratory testing met[3]
Clinical significance
- specificity: 95%.
- 5% of patients with negative test have group A streptococcal infection
