• evaluation of bacterial infection by group A Streptococcus*

* Centor scoring system used for determining whether laboratory testing needed prior to therapy

• patients who meet all 4 Centor criteria should be treated without laboratory testing met

Clinical significance

• specificity: 95%.
  • 5% of patients with negative test have group A streptococcal infection
