Introduction

• chromosomal translocation t(2;5)(p23;q35.1) involving CD246 (ALK) with NPM1 is found in a form of non-Hodgkins lymphoma
  • the resulting chimeric NPM1-ALK protein homodimerizes & the kinase becomes constitutively activated

Epidemiology

• accounts for 5-10% of non-Hodgkin lymphomas
