Indications
- prevention of hospitalization in patients with heart failure
Benefit/risk
- it is thought that the device is safe[1]
- uncertainty regarding whether the device is effective[1]
Procedure
- right heart catheterization to implant a pressure sensor device in the pulmonary artery
- the device has no battery or moving parts
- the device is interrogated by an antenna from outside the body that sends pulmonary artery pressure data to a secure website for physician inspection
