Indications
- glaucoma in children
* trabeculotomy is a surgery for children only
* trabeculotomy or goniotomy preferred over trabeculectomy in children
- less invasive, less likely to cause cataracts, more effective in lowering intraocular pressure
Procedure
- surgical procedure much like trabeculectomy
- apiece of tissue in the eye's drainage angle is removed to create an opening
- new opening allows aqueous humor to drain out of the eye
