Introduction

dermatitis of the nasal vestibule

Etiology

• Staphlococcus aureus

Clinical manifestations

• acute vestibulitis
  • nasal vestibule is red, swollen & tender
• chronic vestibulitis
  • induration of vestibular skin with crusting

Complications

• cavernous sinus infection

Management

• cleaning the nasal vestibule of all crusts with a cotton applicator soaked in hydrogen peroxide
• glucocorticoid-antibiotic combination ointment is sometimes helpful
• chronic fissures are treated by cautery.
