Introduction
dermatitis of the nasal vestibule
Etiology
- Staphlococcus aureus
Clinical manifestations
- acute vestibulitis
- nasal vestibule is red, swollen & tender
- chronic vestibulitis
- induration of vestibular skin with crusting
Complications
- cavernous sinus infection
Management
- cleaning the nasal vestibule of all crusts with a cotton applicator soaked in hydrogen peroxide
- glucocorticoid-antibiotic combination ointment is sometimes helpful
- chronic fissures are treated by cautery.
