adult-onset asthma

Pathology

• tends to be non-allergic
• inflammation along the entire respiratory tract, with sinusitis, nasal polyps & sputum eosinophilia associated with severe cases
• systemic inflammation associated with severe cases

Clinical manifestations

• can be relatively mild and easy to control or can be severe & treatment resistant

Laboratory

• complete blood count
  • neutrophilia associated with severe cases
• sputum eosinophils increased in severe cases
