Drug interactions
- macrolide taken together with a statin may raise plasma levels of statins & increase the risk for myopathy, including rhabdomyolysis
- risk for erythromycin & clarithromycin is 2-fold that of azithromycin[1]
- interaction via inhibition of CYP3A4 by macrolide
