- HVTN 505 clinical trial of an investigational HIV vaccine halted April 2103 because the vaccine did not prevent HIV infection or reduce HIV viral load in those that became infected ith HIV1[1]
- DNA/rAd5 HIV-1 preventive vaccine ineffective in high-risk population[2]
- active immunization against HIV1 has not been successful
- in monkeys, a single injection of multiple broadly neutralizing antibodies provides protection for many weeks against acquiring HIV1[3]
