Indications

• incompetent cervix due to
  • 2nd trimester miscarriages
  • previous cone biopsy or LEEP procedure
  • damage during prior pregnancy

Procedure

• the cervix is sewn closed during pregnancy, generally in the 3rd trimester of pregnancy
