mepenzolate (Cantil)

Indications

• adjunctive therapy in the treatment of peptic ulcer
• irritable bowel syndrome

Dosage

• 25-50 mg QID preferably with meals & at bedtime

Tablets: 25 mg

Adverse effects

• Gastrointestinal:
  • vomiting, nausea, constipation, loss of taste, bloating, dry mouth
• Central Nervous System:
  • confusion, dizziness, weakness, drowsiness, headache, nervousness
• Ophthalmologic:
  • intraocular hypertension, cycloplegia, blurred vision, mydriasis
• Hypersensitivity: anaphylaxis, urticaria
• Cardiovascular: tachycardia, palpitations
• Genitourinary: urinary retention, urinary hesitancy
• Other:
  • decreased sweating, drowsiness, insomnia, impotence, suppression of lactation
