phenylephrine/promethazine (Phenergan with phenylephrine)

Introduction

Tradenames: Phenergan VC, Phenerzine VC.

Indications

• temporary relief of upper respiratory tract symptoms associated with allergy
  • allergic conjunctivitis
• temporary relief of cold symptoms
  • nasal congestion, rhinorrhea, sneezing

Contraindications

• asthma
• peripheral vascular disease

Dosage

• adults & children > 12 years of age:
  • 5-10 mL every 4-6 hours PRN
• children 6-12 years: 2.5-5 mL every 4-6 hours PRN
• children 2-6 years: 1.25-2.5 mL every 4-6 hours PRN

Liquid: promethazine HCl 6.25 mg & phenylephrine HCl 5 mg/5 mL (120 mL, 240 mL)
