Introduction
The modified Glasgow criteria provide prognostic information for patients with pancreatitis. Increased morbidity & mortality are associated with the following criteria with 48 hours of admission to hospital:
- age > 55 years
- WBC > 15,000/mm3
- glucose > 180 mg/dL
- serum urea nitrogen > 96 mg/dL
- serum LDH > 600 IU/L [for reference interval of 90-280 IU/L]
- serum albumin < 3.3 g/dL
- serum Ca+2 < 8 mg/dL
- arterial pO2 < 60 mm Hg
