Indications

• evaluation of fungal infection with Cryptococcus neoformans

Clinical significance

• cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)
  • positive in 90% of CNS infections
  • titer > 1:1024
    • associated with poor prognosis
    • suggests relapse or treatment failure
