Introduction
A topical antiseptic used for dental hygiene & prevention of dental caries
Indications
- prevention & treatment of periodontal disease
- adjunctive treatment for glycemic control in patients with diabetes mellitus type-2
Mechanism of action
- kills oral bacteria including Porphyromonas gingivalis, Treponema denticola, & Tannerella forsythia
- lowers hemoglobin A1c ~1% in patients with A1c of 7.1-7.4%
