Pathology
- etiologic agent of bacterial plaque & adult periodontitis
- identified in the brains of patients with Alzheimer's disease[2]
- produces toxic proteases called gingipains* also identified in the brains of patients with Alzheimer's disease[2]
Pharmacology
- inhibitors of gingipains* suggested to play a mitigating role in Alzheimer pathology[2]
