Introduction
congenital oral anomaly which may decrease mobility of the tongue tip
Etiology
- results from an unusually short, thick lingual frenulum
Pathology
- varies in degree of severity
- complete ankyloglossia results in tongue is tethered to the floor of the mouth
Clinical manifestations
- difficulty swallowing, oropharyngeal dysphagia
- dysarthria
- oral hygiene problems
- social effects
