Introduction
Mean systemic arterial pressure [MAP] - intracranial pressure [ICP]
Cerebral perfusion pressures of > 70 mm Hg are generally considered adequate for perfusing the brain.
Pathology
- increases (esp > 120 mm Hg)[1]
- hypertensive encephalopathy
- cerebral edema
- tolerance to increased cerebral perfusion pressure may occur
- decreases
