Introduction
Premature termination of pregnancy with loss of fetus.
Complications
- medical & surgical abortion have similar risk for subsequent adverse pregnancy outcomes
- venous thromboembolism
- hemorrhage
- sepsis
- shock
Management
- 3 office visits required
- 1st visit: 3 mifepristone tablets
- 2 days later, 400 ug of buccal misoprostol[3]
- doxycycline 100 mg PO BID[3]
- follow-up after 2 weeks to confirm termination of pregnancy
