Function
- catalyzes the omega- & (omega-1)-hydroxylation of various fatty acids such as laurate & palmitate
- no activity towards arachidonic acid & prostaglandin A1
- lacks functional activity in the kidney
- does not contribute to renal 20-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid (20-HETE) biosynthesis
octane + reduced rubredoxin + O2 <--> 1-octanol + oxidized rubredoxin + H2O
Kinetic parameters:
- KM=56.7 uM for laurate
- Vmax: 15.2 umol/min/umol enzyme
Structure
belongs to the cytochrome P450 family
Compartment
- endoplasmic reticulum membrane, microsome membrane
- peripheral membrane (putative)
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=2
