Point of Contact Medical Reference
Introduction
Aaushi is an electronic reference in use at points of patient contact, including outpatient clinics & inpatient hospital wards. Aaushi provides answers to a physician's questions in a time frame that is transparent to the patient. That is to say, the patient is unaware that the physician is looking up information rather than retrieving it from memory. The ubiquitous use of electronic medical records places the patient at ease with computer(s) in the examination room. The patient does not know (or seem to care) what the computer is used for, so far as it does not take long or divert attention from his/her medical problem.
Use of Aaushi at points of patient contact is facilitated by the structured information within Aaushi & the links within Aaushi to more specific information. Through this mechanism it is feasible to rapidly focus in on specific information in a point & click environment.
