Indications
- diagnosis of sarcoidosis & monitoring response to therapy
- diagnosis of Gaucher's disease
- diagnosis of leprosy Rerefence interval:
- 0-6 years: 18-90 U/L
- 7-14 years: 24-121 U/L
- 15-17 years: 18-101 U/L
- 18 years and older: 9-67 U/L
Clinical significance
- serum ACE is largely derived from endothelial cells of pulmonary artery
- a lesser amount is derived from testes
Increases
- sarcoidosis
- primary biliary cirrhosis
- Gaucher's disease
- leprosy
- atypical mycobacteriosis
- miliary tuberculosis
- acute histoplasmosis
- silicosis
- histiocytic lymphoma[1]
