Epidemiology

  • first surfaced in 2009
  • predominant ciculating virus in 2013-2014 flu season[3]
  • etiologic agent of 1918 Spanish flu[4]
    • started in Spring of 2018, dissipated over Summer, returned with a vengeance in the fall
