Indications
Adverse effects
- living kidney donors have survival similar to that of nondonors
- risk of end-stage renal disease (ESRD) is not increased
- kidney from older donor more likely to result in transplantation rejection than from younger donor[2]
- risk of mortality or cardiovascular events not increased among living kidney donors[3]
- < 0.01% of kidney donors die within 3 months of surgery[4]

- unilateral nephrectomy for donation of healthy kidney
