Introduction
A rough ridge with 2 lips running down the posterior shaft of the femur. The lateral lip is a continuation of the gluteal tuberosity. The medial lip is a continuation of the inter- trochanteric line.
The linea aspera gives attachment to:
- vastus medialis
- adductor longus
- adductor magnus
- adductor brevis
- short head of the biceps femoris
- vastus lateralis
- intermuscular septa of the thigh
