Introduction
The deepest layer of flat muscles of the anterolateral abdominal wall.
Origin
- 7th to 12th costal cartilages
- lumbar fascia
- iliac crest
- inguinal ligament
Insertion

- lower thoracic nerve Structure:
The aponeurosis of transversus abdominis muscle splits into two strong sheets, the anterior & posterior layers of the thoracolumbar fascia, which enclose the deep muscle of the back.
