Muscle of the anterior compartment of the arm.

Origin

coracoid process of the scapula

Insertion

middle of the medial border of the humerus

Action

• adducts & flexes the arm at the shoulder
• acts as a shunt muscle, resisting downward dislocation of the shoulder joint

Innervation

musculocutaneous nerve
