Introduction

Deep, distal part of the vastus intermedius.

Origin

lower 1/4 of the anterior shaft of the femur

Insertion

suprapatellar bursa of the knee

Action

retracts suprapatellar bursa during extension of knee

Innervation

femoral nerve
