Introduction

Anterior superficial middle head of the quadriceps femoris.

Origin

• anterior inferior spine of ilium
• upper margin of acetabulum

Insertion

• via common tendon of the quadriceps femoris to the patella & by the patellar ligament to the tibial tuberosity

Action

extends leg & flexes thigh

Innervation

femoral nerve
