flexor retinaculum (transverse carpal ligament)

Introduction

A strong fibrous band crossing anterior to the carpus, holding down the flexor tendons of the digits, the flexor carpi radialis tendon & the median nerve. It forms the of the carpal tunnel.

A similar structure exists in the foot.
