Origin

• common flexor origin of the medial condyle of the humerus

Insertion

• anterior surface of the 2nd metacarpal bone
• fibers generally attach to the anterior surface of the 3rd metacarpal as well

Action

flexes & abducts wrist radially

Innervation

median nerve

The tendon of the flexor carpi radialis travels in its own canal roof by a layer of the transverse carpal ligament.
