Structure
- the labia minora extend from the clitoris to blend into the posterior labia majora or the posterior 1/2 of the vaginal oirifice
- anteriorly the labia minora divide, one part passes over the clitoris to form the prepuce, the other joins beneath the clitoris to form the frenulum[2]
Pathology
- as women age, the labia minora thin & become less prominent
- still in the absence of vulvar pathology, they are easily distinguished from the labia majora
- rarely in very old women or in women with vulvar atrophy, the labia minora may be resorbed into or fused with the labia majora[2]
