quadratus lumborum fascia

Introduction

A dense membraneous layer, continuous laterally with the anterior layer of the thoracolumbar fascia. Thickened superiorly to form the lateral arcuate ligaments & supports inferiorly by the iliolumbar ligaments.

Attachment

anterior surfaces of the transverse processes of the lumbar vertebrae, the iliac crest, the 12th rib & also continuous with the transversalis fascia.
