Introduction
The thickened inferior margin of the transversalis fascia that appears as a fibrous band running parallel & posterior (deep) to the inguinal ligament. Seen only when the inguinal region is viewed from its internal aspect.
- Contributes to the posterior wall of the inguinal canal
- Bridges the external iliofemoral vessels from the iliopectineal arch to the superior pubic ramus
Demarcation:
- The inferior edge of the deep inguinal ring & the medial margin of the femoral canal.
Significance:
- A useful landmark during laproscopic inguinal hernia repair.
