Introduction
A broad flat tendinous portion of the external oblique muscle. Its fibers run medially & downward, as a continuation of the external intercostal muscles, thus contributing to the anterior wall of the sheath of the rectus abdominis muscle.
The tendons of these muscles pass medially in the form of broad aponeuroses that insert on a midline linea alba. The portion of the aponeurosis is also attached to the pubic bone which forms the superficial inguinal ring by splitting into lateral & medial crura.
