coccygeal vertebra [Co1-Co4] (tail vertebra)

Introduction
The 4 terminal segments of the of the vertebral column, usually fused to form the coccyx. Co.1 vertebra is the largest & broadest of all the coccygeal bones (G. coccyx,cuckoo = beaklike)
Function
- provides attachment for parts of the gluteus maximus, coccygeus muscles & the anococcygeal ligament.
- coccyx does not participate with the other vertebra in support of the body weight
