globose nucleus (nucleus globosus)

Structure

• 1 of 2 nuclei located in the cerebellum, interposed between the dentate nucleus & fastigial nucleus
  • also interposed between the dentate nucleus & fastigial nucleus is the emboliform nucleus.
• the globose nuclei are a group of 2 or 3 small masses of gray substance in the white matter core of the cerebellum, medial to the emboliform nucleus

Afferents

• axons of Purkinje cells from the intermediate area of the cerebellar cortex

Efferents

• projects fibers through the superior cerebellar peduncle (brachium conjunctivum)
