Introduction

A nucleus in the caudal & dorsal aspect of the thalamus, embedded in the posterior end of the stria medullaris.

Afferents

• most afferent fibers are from the stria medullaris

Efferents

• interpeduncular nucleus
• other paramedian cell groups in the midbrain tegmentum
