Introduction
Transmissible spongiform encephalopathies that occur in animals (non-human).
Classification
These diseases include:
- scrapie (sheep & goats)
- transmissible mink encephalopathy
- wasting disease of deer & elk
- bovine spongiform encephalopathy
- transmissible spongiform encephalopathy of captive wild ruminants*
- feline spongiform encephalopathy#
* Wild ruminants affected include nyala, gemsbok, Arabian orynx, eland, kudu, scimitar-horned orynx, ankole & bison
# felines affected include domestic cat, puma, cheetah, ocelot & tiger
