Introduction
characterized by white lyre-shaped markings on the thorax.
Pathology
- vector of yellow fever, dengue, chikungunya, & Zika virus.
Biochemistry
- Aedes aegypti mosquitoes prefer the scent of skin with more carboxylic acids[5]
- pentadecanoic acid
- heptadecanoic acid
- nonadecanoic acid
Notes
- WHO is exploring the release of genetically modified Aedes aegypti mosquitoes for control of Zika virus
- release of sterile male mosquitoes or males with the naturally occurring Wolbachia bacteria
- in both instances, when females mate with affected males, the eggs don't hatch[3]
