Strongyloides fulleborni

Epidemiology

• encountered in Africa & Papua, New Guinea
• transmitted person to person & via maternal milk
• infants & young children most commonly affected

Pathology

• adults release membranous sacs full of eggs into the feces

Clinical manifestations

• abdominal distention
• respiratory distress (Loffler's syndrome)
• vomiting
• diarrhea

Management

• thiabendazole
• see S. stercoralis
