Indications
- seizures: absence (petit mal)
- atypical absence (intractable seizures only)
Dosage
Pharmacokinetics
- demethylated to dimethadione (active metabolite)
- 1/2 life of dimethadione (active metabolite) is 6-13 days
1/2life = 6-13 days dimethadione
protein binding = <5 % small
Adverse effects
- Neurologic: sedation, blurred vision
- Systemic: skin rash, bone marrow suppression, nephrosis, hepatitis
