Indications

• ophthalmic
  • open-angle glaucoma
  • intraocular hypertension
• oral
  • hypertension
  • angina pectoris

Contraindications

Caution:

• bronchial asthma
• sinus bradycardia
• 2nd & 3rd degree AV block
• heart failure

pregnancy category = c

safety in lactation = ?

Dosage

• systemic:
  • start 2.5 mg PO QD, max 10 mg/day.
• ophthalmic
  • 1 drop OU BID
  • apply gentle pressure to lacrimal sac immediately before & for 1 minute after instillation
  • avoid blinking for 30 seconds after instillation

Tabs: 2.5 & 5 mg.

Solution: 1%.

• irritation
• burning
• photophobia
• bradycardia

• drug adverse effects of beta-adrenergic receptor antagonists
• drug adverse effects of renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system inhibitors (RAAS inhibitors)
• drug adverse effects of antihypertensive agents
