Etiology
- pesticide exposure
- dental fluorosis
Pathology
- ingestion of 2 g of NaFl is lethal
- precipitation of Ca+2 causing hypocalcemia & tetany
- fluoride inhibits carbohydrate metabolism
- chronic ingestion mottles dental enamel
Clinical manifestations
- nausea and vomiting (corrosive vomitus)
- abdominal pain
- diarrhea
- hypertension
- manifestations of hypocalcemia
Laboratory
- hyperglycemia
- prolonged blood clotting time
