Epidemiology

• occurs preferentially in young adults
• usually located in vault of nose, often infiltrating cribriform plate

Pathology

• tend to infiltrate adjacent structures
• may metastasize to regional lymph nodes
• histological grade III

Microscopic pathology

• nodules of neuroblasts within richly vascularized stroma
• mitoses variable
• Homer Wright rosettes infrequent

Immunophenotype

• + neurofilament protein
• + synaptophysin

Differential diagnosis

• neuroendocrine carcinoma
