Etiology
- pituitary/hypothalamic based -> increased ACTH production
- ectopic ACTH production
Pathology
- hyperplasia may be diffuse or nodular
- in macronodular hyperplasia, the adrenals together may weigh up to 180 gms
- nodules may measure up to 4 cm in diameter
