Introduction

CrmA is a poxvirus gene product which blocks both Fas & TNF receptor-mediated apoptosis. CrmA inhibits ICE or an ICE-like protease functioning as a common effector of cytokine receptor- mediated apoptosis. CrmA does not inhibit TNFR1-mediated activation of NF-kappa B.
