Function

  • acts on phosphatidylinositol (Ptdins) in the 1st committed step in the production of the second messenger inositol-1,4,5,-trisphosphate (IP3)
  • this is a type II Ptdins-4-kinase activated by detergents such as triton
  • inhibited by adenosine
