Function
- catalyzes the formation of mannose 6-phosphate markers on high mannose type oligosaccharides in the Golgi
Structure
- hexamer of two alpha, two beta & two gamma subunits, disulfide-linked
- the alpha &/or beta subunit(s) are catalytic, the gamma subunit functions in recognition of lysosomal enzymes
Compartment
Golgi membrane
Expression
- expressed in the heart, brain, placenta, lung, liver, skeletal muscle, kidney, pancreas
