Function
- major pre-mRNA-binding protein
- binds tenaciously to poly(C) sequences
- likely to play a role in nuclear metabolism of hnRNAs, particularly for pre-mRNAs that contain cytidine-rich sequences
- can also bind poly(C) single-stranded DNA
- Arg-296 & Arg-299 are dimethylated, probably to asymmetric dimethylarginine
- interacts with RBM42 & ZIK1 (putative)
- identified in the spliceosome C complex
- interacts with HCV core protein
- interacts with ASFV p30 protein
Structure
- contains 3 KH domains
- mass=50976.25 by mass spec[2]
Compartment
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=3
More general terms
- heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein (hnRNP)
- DNA-binding protein
- RNA-binding protein
